A Peek Inside

From the Sea
Knock, Knock. Who’s There?

It’s me! Here are my clues. I have whiskers that help me hunt for food by detecting movement in the water. I eat fish. I like to gather in groups for safety. My ears are small holes in the sides of my head. I sleep on rocks or ice and sometimes in the water. I have blubber under my skin to help keep me warm. I can survive in fresh water, but I prefer the sea. My flippers help me move on the sand. Who am I?

I’m a seal. Who is knocking now?

From the Rainforest
Knock, Knock. Who’s There?

It’s me! Here are my clues. I spend most of my time hanging upside down in trees. I am very slow because I eat primarily leaves, which are low in nutrients and calories. I can swim faster in the water. I leave the trees to poop on the forest floor and only do this once a week. It is safer for me to be in the trees, and sometimes, algae grows on my fur to help me hide among the branches. Who am I?

I’m a sloth. Who is knocking now?

From the Savannah
Knock, Knock. Who’s There?

It’s me! Here are my clues. I am the tallest land animal on earth. I can be 18 feet tall (5.5 meters). I have spots that help me blend in with the savannah. My spot pattern is unique to me. I eat leaves from trees. I only sleep about 4 and a half hours each day, mostly 5 to 30 minutes at a time. I can sleep standing up to stay safe from predators. I have a very, very long neck! Who am I?

I’m a giraffe. Who is knocking now?
